$500 per camper
Location: Manatee Performing Arts Center
Step into the spotlight this summer with our two-week teen theatre intensive, designed for performers ages 13-17 ready to take their skills to the next level in Disney's Newsies Jr.! ! Participants will work with professional directors, choreographers, and music instructors to develop acting, vocal, and movement techniques, explore character and script analysis, learn stagecraft, ensemble building, and audition tips—all in a fast-paced, creative, and supportive environment.
At the end of the session, campers will perform in a dynamic, full-length production of Disney’s Newsies JR.! ,
Disney’s Newsies JR. is a 60-minute adaptation of the 2012 Broadway hit, inspired by the 1992 film and the true story of New York City newsboys at the turn of the 20th century. With a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman, and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein, this production brings the excitement, energy, and heart of the classic musical to the stage.
When newspaper publishers raise prices unfairly, charismatic teen Jack Kelly rallies newsies from across the city to stand together and fight for justice. Through courage, teamwork, and determination, the newsies create a movement that proves they are stronger united—and their story continues to inspire audiences today.
Featuring beloved songs like “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “Santa Fe,” Newsies JR. is a spirited, heartwarming show full of music, dance, and timeless messages of friendship, perseverance, and standing up for what’s right.
