Steve Blass, Pirates Player & Color Commentator
"Out, damn spot!" (or "Move over, COVID!"). Spring is almost here and that means a return (most likely more limited than in past years) to baseball. And the Pittsburgh Pirates will be holding Spring Training in just a few weeks. In keeping with our tradition of recognizing the sport that put Bradenton on the map, we will have a very special guest.
Our guest presenter on Feb. 16th will be Steve Blass, who "made his professional debut with Kingsport in 1960 and his Major League debut with the Bucs on May 10, 1964. He joined the Pirates permanently in 1966 and went on to pitch for 10 seasons in the Majors, compiling a 103-76 record, 57 complete games and 16 shutouts in 282 games (231 starts)." (from mlb.com). ;After he stepped down from the mouns, Steve became a color commentator and finally retired after 34 years behind the microphone in 2019. At 77, he serves as an alumni ambassador for the sport.
Meeting includes lunch and reservations required ahead of time. Lunch $13.50
